MOST APPLE TREES REQUIRE POLLINATION FROM ANOTHER VARIETY. PLANTING MULTIPLE TREES OF DIRRERENT VARIETIES WILL GREATLY INCREASE THE PRODUCTION OF FRUIT REGARDLESS IF THE TREE IS OF A "SELF POLLINATING" VARIETY.
The pollen from an apple tree is actually compatible with the receptive stigma of pear trees, meaning that it has the potential to be accepted and result in successful fertilization. This means that apple trees can successfully pollinate pear trees. However, pear trees cannot pollinate apple trees.

American Plum can be a small tree or a large shrub. As a tree, it typically grows to 15-24' tall with a broad, spreading crown. As a shrub, it suckers freely and can form large colonies. 2-5 flowered clusters (umbels) of 5-petaled white flowers appear in March before the foliage. Flowers are followed by edible, round, red plums with bright yellow pulp which ripen in early summer. Although the plums can be eaten raw, the quality is somewhat poor. The fruits are perhaps better used for canning. Branches and twigs are an attractive dark reddish-brown and sometimes have thorny lateral branchlets. American Plum is very hardy and drought resistant. Excellent for wildlife plantings.

Persimmons greatest benefit to deer comes from its orange, oval fruit. The fruit is about the diameter of a quarter and is high in carbohydrates, starches, potassium, sugar, and vitamin C.
The fruit ripens on the tree after the first frost, so in
the fall, it is a high energy source for deer that helps them build body reserves for the winter.
Central Wisconsin is the utmost northern range for persimmon to grow. Care should be taken to protect these trees from harsh winter conditions. Recommended planting areas are protected area with southern exposure.
Pollination: Persimmons Have both male and Female trees. Male trees will not bear fruit but are necessary for pollination. (So says my Biology Professor). It is recommended that multiple trees are planted in order to have both sexes of trees.
